I ha a '68 and when I press the Brake pedal my Dash Lights illuminate, but the brake lights don't. I am missing the rear side marker light socket and am wondering since the ground runs off that socket, if thats my problem, or is my problem under the dash.

Check the center screw in your dash gauge carrier that is the ground for the dash & if it is loose or the stiff wire is missing it will go crazy nothing will work right.

There is a ground strap or formed wire that connects to the speedo housing and then connects to one of the screws for the high beam lamp. Then from the high beam lamp socket there is another ground strap that connects to the carrier screw above the high beam lamp. Or, just connect a ground wire directly from the speedo housing to the dash frame somewhere. Like where the direction flasher holding clip is attached to the dash below the ignition switch.
