I'm installing my Mallory Unilight in my 69, when I used to run it on a HEI car I had to use a Balast Resistor. Mallory states in the instructions that if the car is equiped with a "Loom Resistance Wire" than the Balast resistor will not be required.

I did a search and found where someone stated that a they thought 69's had a reistance wire that did feed the coil originally. Can anyone verify this??

I'll try calling Mallory tomorrow, but would rather hear it from one of you guys if you know.

Thanks for the info

Yes, the braided wire in a 69 (67 and 68's too)that runs from the firewall to the ignition coil is a "resistance wire" that drops running voltage to the coil to about 9 volts to lenghten the life of the breaker points.

yes a white or off white braided wire.
I put an MSD 6AL on mine and works great with the resistance wire.
