I have a 73' camaro. I just bought a set of mechanical guages,. can i just take out and not hook the tempereature switch/sender, or are they inline in with another curcuit? Would that leave me with any other problems? Thank you in advance

Naw, no problems. Just tape up the ends so they don't short out.

Why not run the gauge sending unit in the right side head between cylinders 6 & 8 , that way you can the best of both worlds, idiot light (for the times the girlfriend, or kids drive the car) and gauge.
For the oil sending unit use a one inch nipple with a 45 degree coupler another 1 inch nipple, and 3 way junction block, sender in one and gauge line in the other...
