Can anyone tell me the correct hook up for a starter for a first gen camaro. I am using the stock points dist. I know a wire from the dist goes to the + side of the coil, and the + cable goes to the center post of the starter. I have 2 wires left.I know one of them goes to the s terminal, what about the other? Does it go on the other side of the s terminal? Any help will be appreciated.
thanks, jason

The 12 ga. purple wire goes to the S terminal (the small terminal closest to the block). The smaller guage wire goes to the R terminal (the other small terminal).
The wire from the distributor goes to the - terminal of the coil.

Thanks for the info. Does the coil power the r terminal or does it hook up to the - side of the coil?

The "R" terminal sends 12V from the starter solenoid directly to the "+" side of the ignition coil during cranking. It is used to bypass the resistance wire during cranking to give the ignition a boost to help start the car faster. You could leave it out and the car will run just fine.
