American Autowire Harness install

This should be fun... I'm going to go ahead and do the inside portion of the car. Thought about trying the techflex loom on this go around. They have a ton of variations, I was thinking the F6 flexo or woven. Any thoughts?

Also looking for any pics / articles of where the original wires ran. It's been a while... I can see some of it in the Camaro assembly manual.

www.techflex.com

American Autowire Classic update part # AAW500686

The lowest I could find it was at Autoplicity for $566 if anyone is looking. Summit was $611.

Same exact thing I'm looking at Shad. Only it will take me another year or more to get there. Curious to see how it goes for you.

It really looks pretty simple... My biggest problem is remembering how the wires are routed. The previous harness was butchered and had wire nuts for connectors. So it won't take much to be better than it was...lol

Re: American Autowire Harness install

So I think this is general "path" of the stock wiring... Is this about right? I'm just curious, I'll do it where it hides the best, just curious if this is the path of the stock wiring.

The rear body wiring starts at the fuse block comes down the left kick panel and along the rocker panel.

Along the rocker panel, inside of the wheel well through the back seat brace.

Through the back seat brace around the outside of the truck brace and around the outer edge of the trunk.

Re: American Autowire Harness install

top pic:

main harness goes behind those two support struts. dou u see that little piece with the stamp?
one of the main connectors go there.

middle pic:

the beginning is correct but the wires travel up the wheelwell between the inner body and package tray.

bottom pic:

do you see that little tab with the hole just below the trunk hinge support bracket? the wire harness clip goes there.

the AAW harness does not have the factory harness clips that mount the harness to the car in specific places. thats why its good to look for these little 1/4" holes where the wiring harness routes thru and you will have a great idea of where it goes. thats where those push lock zip ties come in handy in the link i provided previously

Ok, I put the main portion behind the two supports

I think you were saying it goes up the wheel well and through the back seat brace here. I think I blocked it off when I did the mini tub, but I can drill it out.

I believe this is the plug location you where talking about in the last pic.

Yeah, I'll probably get some of those clips from Dell. They'll come in handy.

I also noticed that they don't have the connector that separates the tails light harness at the tail pan. I guess that's less places to have problems.
