Electrical problem mystery

I need help solving a problem. I have a 68 camaro with Dakota Digital Gauges, new ignition switch, msd 8360 distributor, new mini starter, msd 8202 blaster 2 coil. The problem is sometimes when I turn the key everything is dead even the gauges do not light up. The only way that I have found to fix this is to remove both the positive and negative battery cables then reattach them. I’ve tried to disconnect the negative only and that usually doesn’t fix it, I have to remove both cables from the batttery. This condition usually occurs after I try to start the car and it turns over but doesn’t start. When I go to turn the key again is when the dead condition happens. Any ideas? I thought maybe it was a grounding issue but why does everything work the first time I turn the key but on the next turn of the key I get the dead condition, usually within a few seconds?

Re: Electrical problem mystery

Only two suggestions I have,
1. Put both red wires on the horn relay buss bar onto the same screw.
2. Swap out ign switch with the old one, just for giggles,
3. Wire brush battery posts and cable clamps?

Give a man a rescued dog for the health of both their souls. May 2017 ROTM Winner - Thank you!
