Pertronix II air gap

I'm installing a 91181 Ignitor II into my 1969 Chevy Camaro. I have the distributor out and I'm working on the air gap between the ring and the module. As I rotate the distributor the air gap varies. The ring sits flat on glass. No play in the distributor shaft.

Should I just get the gap as best as I can on the closest air gap. Or should I look at where the ring mounts and see if I can bend that plate to even the gap?

Re: Pertronix II air gap

I sent a message to Pertronix tech support and got this back.

The air gap can be anywhere between 0.005" and 0.070". The gap wont be level all the way around, but it wont matter as long as you are between that range.
