Ignition Switch Removal

I have looked at every paper I can fine on the removal of the ignition switch on my 69 Camaro I have taken off the Steering wheel but I don't see the slot that I have to press to release the switch. So what can I do. Here is a picture so you can see what I see.

Re: Ignition Switch Removal

The slot is there where it should be. Just filled with some metal from casting. It will punch right out easily

Re: Ignition Switch Removal

It's just a bit of casting flash. I'd get comething pointy and start poking around. If memory serves it's at about 12pm. I seem to recall it's a bit of a pain to find the release to press but not too bad. No doubt youtube will have a vid.

Re: Ignition Switch Removal

If you're trying to remove the lock cylinder you're on the right track. All of this is unnecessary if you're trying to remove the ignition switch as your title states. The ignition switch mounts to the top of the steering column close to the firewall.

Re: Ignition Switch Removal

Yes, punch through the slot circled in your picture. The release is behind that slot and has the same shape.

Thanks,
