67 RS Parking light removal

My 67 RS front passenger side parking light harness was ripped from the socket leaving it unworking. I bought a new assy from Classic Industries. I took the lens off but there are no more bolts or screws holding it in. Before I started prying it out was wondering if there were any tips on remove for replacement.

Thanks!

Re: 67 RS Parking light removal

Have you looked inside the valance? There should be a U clamp inside the valance that bolts to the rear of the light fixture.

This a picture of the clamp on eBay.

On the lights currently installed they are held in by two nuts on the back of the post for the light which goes through the bracket you linked a picture too. Not sure if these are the old style after market but my new ones do not have threads on the posts

I have never had mine off. But that sure looks like a speed nut on your post. No threads on the post until the speed nut cuts them into the soft metal.

Re: 67 RS Parking light removal

The second picture is the original setup with a metal stud in the light fixture and a flanged nut holds it in place. Your new light has a plastic stud molded on to the light fixture and uses a speed nut to hold it in place. The speed nut cuts threads into the plastic stud. Be sure not to over tighten the nut because you could break the stud or strip the stud and be able take it off again.

I am looking at speed nuts now for it. Do you know if I should use a 1/8th or 3/16th speed nut?

I would think it would be closer to 3/16Ē. Use your adjustable wrench as a Calipers to measure the stud. That should give you a good idea what size you need.

If you know the manufacturer of the light, call them for the size. They really should have included the speed nuts with the light fixture.

Re: 67 RS Parking light removal

Another question figured I would piggy back off this.

Does anyone have a picture for a 67 RS for the passenger side where the harness for the RS parking light comes up to the engine bay? I know it is around the battery tray.

The other end of the plug which goes into the harness seems very short. Thanks!

This is a picture of the parking light connection, blue and purple wire, hanging over the hole in the inter wheel well.

Thank you. It appears my blue/purple wire connection must be routed wrong or stuck on something. I donít have the length to get to that hole. Thank you
