Courtesy Lights-Under Dash 67 Camaro

Courtesy lights that go under dash near kick panel. Where exactly do they mount?

I see the wire harness is available along with metal brackets the bulb socket goes into

The harness has a connector on it (red & white wires), where under dash does this plug into?

Not seeing any open plug to receive the harness

Re: Courtesy Lights-Under Dash 67 Camaro

You may or may not have the plug on your car. If not you have to splice into the
harness. There is a multi connection plug for the rear wiring harness (includes
dome light orange and white wires) under dash on drivers side clipped to the
back side of the dash. It's a bit difficult to get to. The light brackets mount to the
corners of the dash lip via screws. You should have holes in the lip already.
Here's a thread describing location of the plug if you have it.

Re: Courtesy Lights-Under Dash 67 Camaro

This is another thread where I post a picture of the connection behind the drivers side kickpanel. I am not sure but this connector may only be on the stock RS or convertible wiring harness.

Re: Courtesy Lights-Under Dash 67 Camaro

Thanks Guys

I am not seeing orange/white wire coming from or going to the top of the DS kick panel. There is a taped wire harness going down into it so maybe the plug is off of that and "behind" my DS kick panel. I will pull kick panel and look.

I have option RPO Z21 style trim group and Z23 interior décor....IDK if either include "courtesy lights". IDK if glove box light is part of the courtesy light group but I have that and it is not the "add on" harness that plugs into "BATT" on the fuse block

if no connector I guess tap into orange wire (+12vdc) for glove box light and to white wire (GRD) of door jamb switch

I really never gave this mod any thought until I sat in a friends 67 with the lights and they "help"..... with black interior, black sun glasses falling on carpet....yeah a little light will help :-)

Re: Courtesy Lights-Under Dash 67 Camaro

Per CRG info the glove box light was available as a separate option in 67. Starting in 68 it was included
in the ZJ9 auxiliary lighting group. So you could have the glove box light and not have the courtesy lights.

Re: Courtesy Lights-Under Dash 67 Camaro

Well no Courtesy Light connector behind DS kick panel.

Tapped into orange (BATT) wire under dash and white door switch wire. Easy. Nice addition to the interior lighting.

Got the harness, brackets and bulbs at the local, to me, NPD
