What do these two black wires do?

This is a picture of my wiring harness on my 68 right above the wiper motor. There are two black wires that come off as you can see. One goes to the front and is hanging near the voltage regulator the other is just hanging by the power brake booster. Any ideas?

Re: What do these two black wires do?

The one thatís run towards the front hooks into a wired style connector which the runs to the horn relay and just hangs. The other runs about behind the PB booster and is hanging. As gas as I can tell, everything works in the car itís just that I noticed it for the first time today after 15 years.

Here's a pic showing an underhood light with fuse holder.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/68-69-Chevy...4AAOSwc1FXa0Sx

It got it's power at the horn relay. Is there any evidence of a light on the underside of the hood ?

No evidence of one that I can tell. How do you know if a car came with one or not?

Re: What do these two black wires do?

Checked my 68, but no help, sorry. I have one that appears to be a make shift ground and another hanging attached to nothing.

Will be watching were this thread goes...

Re: What do these two black wires do?

Interesting... I have the hanging one as well. Perhaps itís for an option we donít have. Canít figure out the other one either... it runs to the horn relay and isnít connected. As suggested that could be for a under hood light that I donít have. My wiring harness is original for sure.

Re: What do these two black wires do?

Looks custom shall we say. Same w/ the tape on the harness. I'd strip the tape in the area and start looking for splices. BTW, harness tape is what was used originally an has no adhesive. Electrical tape bad.
