6 gauge auto-meter ultra-lite direct fit dash kit issue

Just bought my Camaro a few weeks ago and it came with the Auto Meter direct fit dash kit with the 6 gauges. Noticed driving it at night that the lights in the gauges and the floor shifter were not working. Last night came up with the idea of turning the light switch to the left after pulling it out to turn the lights on and low and behold the lights on the gauges and shifter turned on. Looks to be a red incandecent. Turned them on and off a few times being so overjoyed that I now had lights then all of the sudden they stopped working along with the floor shifter light. Went from total happiness to WTF in no time flat. Did not have time to troubleshoot so I am just trying to figure out most common issue here. Blown fuse, short, ground? Any help would be great, thanks.

Re: 6 gauge auto-meter ultra-lite direct fit dash kit issue

you could have a ground issue to the dash cluster or the headlight switch is corrupt.....assuming the aftermarket gauge package was installed correctly

Autometer gauges come with colored lens (red & green) to go over the bulb so you can remove them if you want a brighter light

You could try just using alligator clip leads and attaching one end to metal of the gauge cluster and to dash/chassis ground to see if that is the issue and if so then attach a new ground wire permanently
