Unhappy Idiot of the year award

Well, I think I'll get the idiot of the year award for sure. Ok, here goes. I was working on the Camaro after being up all night working the night shift. The battery was dead, so I brought up my van and was going to jump start it. To make a long story short, I connected the cables to the Camaro battery, but not to the van, the other end of the cables were under the van TOUCHING each other. I tried to start the car like this, before realizing what was going on, the cables fried together and now I am scared that I have fried everything electrical in the car. I have the battery on charge and will try to start it in the morning. In the mean time, could I have fried my MSD, electrical systems, relays, etc???? What do you guys think.

Re: Idiot of the year award

nope, no idiot award for you, the guy that hooked the cables backwards gets it this week!

The good news is, you hurt nothing but the battery, and probably not even that.

Re: Idiot of the year award

Really? Wow, that is great news. I was sure that by having the battery grounded out like that and actually turning the key, I had sent a shock through the entire system and, well, fried it!

Thanks, Mike

Re: Idiot of the year award

Okay, I'm not going to show up for my award, because I'll be out back finishing up the '69. Which means that i'm back on track, charged the battery and all is well. Everything is working fine. Thanks for the reply Jim.
