Horn not working.

69 RS/SS camaro.

All of a sudden the horn has quit working. I had just removed the steering wheel and disconnected the horns; which I have done many times before.
What are the most common problems with the wiring in the steering column?
I traced it back to the column. I can remove the column connector and short out the horn wire and it works great.
Ground at the wire coming through the wheel and nothing....
Just trying to find others exeriences before I remove the wheel again....

Re: Horn not working.

Check that you did not push that brass contact in the plastic collar in too far. If so, the metal ring in the horn button wont be able to touch it when depressed in. If its in too far, gently pull on it with a set of pliers to get it back out some more.

Re: Horn not working.

Thanks for the reply. I finally got around to taking the steering wheel off again and found the problem. The wire had been disconnected from the brass ring. I had to reset the brass connector and it started working again.
