What are these Items?

In the pictures below is a unit that mounts below the voltage regulator, also there is a small barrel that mounts to the side of the voltage regulator and connects through a black wire to a connection on the VR. The unit(Delco Remy) that mounts below the voltage regulator has two push on connectors, one with a black wire and one with a green, also has a red(hot) wire connected to a screw terminal and two black wires connected to the other screw terminal. The top says Delco Remy made in the USA, and I labeled in sharpie the colors. I guess I need to know because my generator light stays on when the car is running, I have already replaced the Alternator and the Voltage regulator and it is still on. I am thinking these two items may need to be replaced as well as soon as I find out what they are. Thanks in advance.

Re: What are these Items?

the 2 top pics are the capacitors.

used in radio noise interference.
the bottom pics are your horn relay also has charging circuit wiring going through it.
replace both too be certain they are good .
horn relay especially.
itll save you a few headaches later on.

Re: What are these Items?

Thanks Dawg, would either of these have anything to do with the Generator light staying on, it doesn't sound like either would.

Re: What are these Items?

well it might be the horn relay seeing that part of your charging circuit goes through it.

but I would also check the regulator ( big electical box above horn relay)
if its not a heavy duty regulator you problem is most likely there.
I know this cause I had same problem years ago and it ended up being the regulator.
judging by all the corrosion on all those items i would spend a few bucks and replace them.

Re: What are these Items?

Looking at the pics, the regulator looks like a solid state replacement unit. Little green circuit board instead of coils and contacts. The semi-conductors on the board can be damaged easily if it wasn't wired properly. Check all the associated wiring for breaks, shorts, and correct terminal placement before you attempt to put a new one on.
