Starter Wires

Does anyone know if the starter wires were routed through a metal tube (or some other type material )to shield them from heat etc. on a 1969 Camaro 350, 4 speed?

Re: Starter Wires

I don't know about 4 speed cars but my car has a rubber coated clip on the firewall just below the cylinder head that holds the wires away from the headers.

Re: Starter Wires

I saw this one in Ricks or Ground up and bought it, since I was having wire curling issues, so far so good. Jim..former owner of a 69RS-LM1 350/255 - 700r

I believe GM starting using the metal tube around the same time Cat convertors came on the scene, (75, 76) increased exhaust temps, burnt the unprotected wires. it works great on the older cars with header clearance issues.
