Question Ignition switch??

Ok, I am back again with another crazy question that is baffling me. The car does not turn off when I turn the ignition switch off. I replaced the switch and the same thing still happens. I don't get it. Any ideas??

Re: Ignition switch??

You have some sort of wiring defect that is causing the "ignitrion circuit" to be energized all the time. You'll just have to track it down. Do you have a voltmeter or test light? Hook to the + side of the coil. If you have power there with the key off, take off the wires and check them. Is there 1 wire or 2? Are they factory wires or added? One possibility is that the yellow wire from the starter is getting power all the time, feeding back to the rest of the circuit. There's lots of other possibilities too tho.

The factory wiring includes the yellow wire from the starter and the white resistance wire, which comes from the firewall connector. Verify that the coil is or isn't getting power from under the hood (disconnect the firewall bulkhead connector and test, too) let us know what you find, and also the state of your wiring ( any modifications or non standard wiring on the coil, points or electronic ignition, msd type box, erc.)

Re: Ignition switch??

Do you have a MSD ignition box? If so you may need a diode to prevent runon.

Re: Ignition switch??

Could BE the ignition switch because there is a slight room for adjustment And IF NOT properly adjusted would or could still be sending power (may not be fully in the off position) ...
