69 AM Radio harness connectors, what the heck????

I have verified through searches that the AM ridio I have is correct but out of 3 different wiring harness's I can seem to find the connector that plugs into the back of the radio (4) spade-type connectors. Is there some type of connector that goes on first then the harness plugs in. I even ordered the radio connector from Ricks and nothing fits.
Please help. I can't move forward with other the radio installation.
Thanks as always!!!

Re: 69 AM Radio harness connectors, what the heck????

The power connector for the radio is not reproduced. Even M&H doesn't have it. The speaker harness for the dash speaker plugs into the connector on the radio, and then the power connector attached to the dash harness plug into that connector.

Re: 69 AM Radio harness connectors, what the heck????

Mark C. I have 3 original harness's and none fit. So if I understand this correctly is that the dash harness & speaker wire plugs into a power connector that connects into the radio. Its that radio connector that is missing and hard to find.

Here are the connectors I have. 2 look the same, but 1 is different. What do I have?

Re: 69 AM Radio harness connectors, what the heck????

The lower right and top connectors are the dash speaker extension harness. Green and black wires go to the dash speaker. The large connector plugs into the radio and the dash harness power connector (in the top connector) plugs into those two connectors. The other one is the adapter harness for RPO U80 Auxilliary speaker. The small connector on the left (of the three) attaches to the wires from the fader knob that got installed under the tuning knob on mon radios. The front speaker connector attaches to the larger connector (in the center of the three) and the right connector goes into the radio. That connector is also used with an 8 track player when installed with a mono radio.

Re: 69 AM Radio harness connectors, what the heck????

Don, I thought you were going to ask that. Do you have a small 2 wire connector (yellow and black wire) coming from the new main harness you bought? If so, we can work something out. if not, then we have a problem. I only have 2 of those for my 2 cars.

Kevin, Yes I do have a yellow/black connector. And it even has power to it. Unlike the rest of my dash :-(

Re: 69 AM Radio harness connectors, what the heck????

I'm working an AM set up in my 69 as well. Although I'm temporarily using a 70 Chevelle radio I don't have anything to connect to the back of the radio. I do have the black and yellow wires with the connector, but no speaker, or wire and I think the connections on the back of the radio may be different, not sure about that because I haven't even seen what that looks like on a 69 AM radio. What do I need to make connections?

Thanks Kevin, Hope you catch up on the sleep. Give me a yell when you can. I'll need to stop over to drop off the HB puller.

The wiring harness from the radio to the speaker has a green wire and a black wire. Which is the hot wire and which is the ground wire?

Re: 69 AM Radio harness connectors, what the heck????

Kevin, It looks like you are very schooled in the radio and speaker set up for 69's. Can you help me with my issue? I have an original am radio and I have the correct harness that plugs into the radio. The issue that I have is I purchased a 10 ohm original speaker but it has no wiring on it expcept for a short piece of green wire soldered to one of the terminals. I have two wires coming from the harness. Can you tell me where they attach to on the speaker?

Thanks, Bob
