Highbeam switch is dead. How do I fix it?

Highbeam switch is dead. How do I fix it?

The highbeam switch is located on the turn-signal-lever. When I pull back on the lever I feel no click and the highbeams don't come on. The highbeam switch seems to be busted.
But how do I get to it? Do I have to take apart the steering column? The parts guys at the Chevy house said there was a rod that went to an easily accessable switch, but I don't see anything like that. My Hayes manual doesn't have this in it either (Up a creek without a paddle.)
Anyone here ever replace the higbeam switch? Any tips on how to access it?

Re: Highbeam switch is dead. How do I fix it?

The switch is underneath the dash above the kick panel. Then you must pull down the other plastic panel that covers the computer plug, very easy. There is a rod that hugs the steering column and goes back to the actual switch. There are two little 5/16 bolts that hold the bracket in place. The bolts are a little hard to get to and facing up. I found the switch, moved it forward a little, and now it all works. The switch is not in the column.

Thumbs up Re: Highbeam switch is dead. How do I fix it?

Sam;

Thanks for the feed-back on that
This forum mainly deals with the 1st Gen. Camaros and I'm sure that's why you didn't get many takers on your post.
MAny of us do however have newer Camaro's & other cars and help many friends and neighbors maintain theirs, so this info will no doubt come in very handy some day

If a man says something in the garage - and his wife can't hear him - is he still wrong !!!
