Question engine bay wiring

just bought a 68ss it had original wiring in very bad shape so i bought a painless harness for it is there anything i should be aware of with this new harness cause it doesnt have fuseible links on it like the original all the wiring is ran and have some components hooked up but im stumbiling a bit now that im to the engine compartment

Is the engine you have in it the original, or is it a replacement? Reason I ask is because if the engine you have is not exactly identical to the origional one, you can be sure to run into problems.

I've had very good luck cleaning up the original wiring if it's at all usable. You need some good wiring tools, connectors, and colored braided wire, all of which are available at Home Depot. The heat shrink tubes are great for splices, and Rick's sells the origianal wiring tape for about $10 to keep things looking original.

Also, get a $20 volt-meter (which can also test continuity and resistance) which will save hours on diagnotics if you run into probs (and you will).

73 would wire up pretty darned close to a 69. Do a search in electrical for "color wiring diagram" Another member made full color pdf's of the whole car's wiring broken down into separate systems. they are very easy to follow.
