Wiper Switch Grounding

My 1967 RS/SS Camaro has a grey wire on the wiper switch to ground it. It has a large copper ring terminal on it that slides over the threads before installing the switch into the dash.
Is this original, or did someone add it?
If it is original, where does it connect to to ground the switch? Mine is loose under the dash.
I would think a star washer would ground the switch to the dash and do the job, but I want to leave it original. I cannot find this wire on my wiring diagram.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Wiper Switch Grounding

Paul, Welcome to Team Camaro, the best FirstGen site on the internet!

I had the dash in my 68 apart last year, and do not recall and extra ground wire on the wiper switch, it grounds phycically to the dash when the nut is tightened. Lets wait for someone else to chime in to confirm this. Very possible a previous owner added the ground due to troubles with the wiper circuit.

In the future, you only need to post once. This is a very active board, and all questions get answered, often within hours. I'll have your duplicate post in "tag team" removed.

Re: Wiper Switch Grounding

Thanks Jim,
I only posted twice because I could not decide if it pertained to wiring or originality, and decided both.

Thanks, can't wait to hear from others.

Re: Wiper Switch Grounding

in my 67 firebird, there was no wire to ground the switch, it was case ground like Jim said
where does the other end of the grey wire attatch to the switch?

the wiring colors should be dark and light blue and black, all three run to the motor (the dark blue is only for the washer)
