69 Wiring Question

For Xmas I received one of those small on your dash computers that you plug into your lighter. My lighter is all rusty and doesn't work let along try to get it out and replace it with something that isn't made anymore.
While under the dash I noticed there is only one orange wire going to the lighter and no ground wire. I guess this because the lighter is grounded to the dash? Can I tap into this orange wire for power to the computer and also run a ground wire from the computer to a ground connection on the dash.

Re: 69 Wiring Question

Yes, the orange wire is the power, and it is grounded to the dash. As for using it for the computer, I don't see any reason why not.
