Is this a diode?

I pretty much nailed down why my blower on my truck only works on max. and not on low, med, hi. There is no voltage after this component. What ever this is can anyone identify it? Thanks

Re: Is this a diode?

not quite sure what the thing the arrow points to is, ain't nuttin like that on a firstgen...lol.

But the pic as a whole looks like the blower resister unit, and if it only works on high, that be your problem.

Re: Is this a diode?

I had that exact same problem on my 96 Silverado. Resistor costs 30.00 I think and fixed my problem.

Re: Is this a diode?

I agree with Secondtime, diode. current only flows in one direction. There is a diode on 67 Camaros with the r/s option. I had to replace one before and it fixed the problems I was having with the doors operating properly. It's shown in the 67 R/S wiring diagram's

Re: Is this a diode?

I found out that yes indeed it is a thermal fuse. I clipped it out and had to use a magnifying glass to read the faded out numbers. i picked one up a Radio Shack 1.49. Thanks guys.
