TKO nuetral safety wiring

I am installing a TKO 5 speed in my 68, which was an automatic. In 68, manual trans cars there was not a clutch safety switch, so instead of trying to adapt a clutch switch or bypass the safety all together, I want to try to use the internal TKO nuetral safety switch, which can not take the full current with the stock wiring. So, I thought about using a Bosch 30 amp relay to to the job. I think I have the schematic all worked out, but if someone would check it, I'd feel better:

1. Fused 12 ga. wire from battery to terminal number 30 on relay.
2. Ground terminal 85 on relay.
3. Attach purple/white wire (ignition) from original nuetral safety switch to one wire of the TKO saftety switch
4. Attach other wire from TKO safety switch to terminal 86 of the relay.
5. Attach original puple wire from stater solenoid to terminal 87 of relay.

Does that seem right?

Mike -

See if Mike Pell's instructions match up with what you're thinking.

I was looking at these early on, before I realized my 69 had the clutch safety switch (this is my first 69).

It sure would be nice if the TKO boyz would supply instructions or maybe a mod kit for this very common problem.

Re: TKO nuetral safety wiring

Eric, I checked out your link and it seems exactly what I am doing. I bought the relay, fuse holder, connectors, etc. I won't be able to try it out till I get the trans completely installed in a month or so. ( I know, I'm slow) but I'm confident it will work. I do agree that a simple schematic and parts list would be easy for the TKO dealers to put in the tech section or f.a.q section of their websites.
