Alternator regulator wires????

I have an aftermarket alternator, the regulator is labeled R for one side and F for the other. What do the labels mean? I know one goes to the alternator light, but I don't know how to tell which one.

Re: Alternator regulator wires????

Nevermind, I have an External Regulator. I believe the F tab goes to the Blue on the voltage regultor and the yellow goes to the R. Not 100% sure yet.

Re: Alternator regulator wires????

There's the info I was looking for!!

Blue wire from F to top terminal on Reg.
White wire (might be yellow w/age) from R to second terminal on reg.
Red wire from harness (w/fusible link) to third terminal on reg
Brown wire from harness (GEN light) to 4th terminal on reg!

Re: Alternator regulator wires????

The connector for the alternator and regulator only goes in one way.... so you can't get it wrong.

Re: Alternator regulator wires????

That exactly how I hooked it up. We were using a new American Autowire wiring harness and it was really built for an alternator with an internal regulator. Didn't have any information on this setup. We also had a little issue with a ballast resistor.

However, after that is started for the first time. Awesome!!!
