Security System

Has anybody had any luck with a security system that can be hidden and disables the ignition? I rarely lock my car (why, it's a ragtop). They are so easy get into and start. I thought if I installed something, it would be just a little piece of mind.

Re: Security System

Use our Search tab in this section and in Bench section and you will find tons of posts about security systems that others have used.

Jim:
I tried that already before my post and didn't see much, certainly not tons of stuff. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I selected Search and tried "Security" and "Security Systems" and not much popped up.

Re: Security System

Try a general search on 'kill switch' I've seen several posted before, not just in bench racing.

For 69 and up, you could also use a column lock.

Re: Security System

A really good idea is Lojack. I have it on my vehicles and am a police officer and have seen it work many times. CHeck them out. Their latest products are alarms with cellualr technology in them to notify you via pager, and cell phone i think, when your vehicle is ebing tampered with. Great system.

Re: Security System

Consider a PowerLock on the starter - $160 http://www.truckaddons.com/Catalog/s...k_security.htm

and a Grant Antitheft Steering Wheel system

Re: Security System

Ok, I feel like a dork. The search "Anti theft", "Kill Switch" brought up lots of information to ponder.

Thanks All!

this system appears to only block power to the starter. what would stop someone with a battery & 2 wires from touching the wire posts on the the stater to get the car running.
