Junction box

Is the junction box behind the battery needed to wire the front wire harness. What is it's function? This is for a 1968 Camaro with a V8. Thank you.

Re: Junction box

That junction block supplies power to the entire car, except the starter, details here: http://home.comcast.net/~Jimragtop/W...tion_block.htm

Re: Junction box

It provides a connection point with the wire from the horn relay buss bar on the driver side of the radiator support and the positive post of the battery.

This path allows power to transfer from the positive post of the battery to the rest of the vehicle, providing the ground cable is hooked up to the negative post.

Re: Junction box

I had a problem here some 25 yrs ago....
The wire from the battery has to be of a certain size (maybe length? cant rem) It is there so if something shorts out/overloaded or a major problem arises, this section will burn out before any real damage is done to wires in the the main wiring.

My Spelling is not incorrect...it is creative

Re: Junction box

The wire from the battery should be fuseable wire. It's typically one size smaller in diameter and of a different material so it will burn in two before the rest of the system is damaged.
