Unhappy electrical power drain

so i have a 91 z28.. and about 3 months ago it started to have a little bit of a power shortage.. i figured no biggie maybe im imagining it.. well since then im on my second purchased batt.. 3rd including the one that was in there.. so i now have an optima red top in her.. when it used to run the voltage meter read about 14.. cool.. now its under 12.. the alt is newer.. b4 i bout it but rather new.. ive had the car a year.. help me please.. i cant afford to kill a 150 dollar batt

Have your alternator tested. If it checks out inspect the wiring to and from the alt.

hook a volt meter to battery with car running at 1500 rpm voltage should be 13.8 to 14.7
