Autometer Tach w\ MSD

Anyone running the Z series tach with a MSD setup.. I purchased a MSD 8360 ready to run dist. and noticed while reading thru the tach instructions Autometer will void warranty if used with MSD coil setup.. Should I buy the box to get the tach output or is this just to protect them from supporting this setup.

Thanks, Joe

No, but I did read the instuctions. You need to contact MSD to find out if a tach can be hooked to the coil. The instuctions say nothing about a wiring a tach I am not familier with the 8360 but I am with the MSD6al. When using a 6al nothing but the 6al is wired to the coil as the voltage is stepped up quite a bit (400+ volts) and wiring a tach to the coil with a 6al box is a fast way of killing a tach. ( the reason for the warning from autometer) I don't know if the voltage is stepped up on a 8360. Contact MSD to find out what your options are.

Added info... after looking at the wiring diagram it looks like the tach can be wired to the coil- but don't take my word for it, ask MSD.
