diode

Whats The Diode Near The Voltage Regulator Do? Does It Ever Need To Be Replaced And Why? I Hope You Guys Can Help Thanks In Advance

The only diodes I know of are in the alternator, and they are one way valves for electricity.Yes they can go bad,it will cause a drain on the battery.

I think he means the Capacitor. The Capacitor is there to suppress noise or static on the original AM radios. If you have a modern AM/FM stereo with proper grounds, then you do not need the Capacitor. I kept mine for a more original look to the regulator.

on the regulator their is a slip on plug in the rear and i plugged a round battery looking thing into it. is that a capicitor or diode i don't know any help please?

That would be a capacitor, sometimes called a condensor.
