Angry How do you make these Damn plug wires

OK, So after looking at the forum, I decided to go w. Taylor 8mm wires. I bought a set only to find out you have to put your own ends on them. How the HELL do you get the wire through a 90 degree HEI boot?

Do you have to use the recommended crimping tool?

Geez this will never end!!!!

yes, get the recommended crimping tool. i went up to my local auto parts store and ordered one and had it that evening. it makes things go much easier. try putting just a drop of dielectric grease on the end of the wire and also inside the boot and that will help the wire slide into position.

Re: How do you make these Damn plug wires

The crimping tool is highly recommended. With it, you could pull the connectors off the distributor by the wires with no harm, without, no matter how good a pliers you havem a bit of a pull will separate them.

Run the wires through the boot then install the terminal and pull back through. I always make my own wires. It gets real easy after the first couple. Now a set takes me less than a 1/2hr to lay out, cut, and assemble.

Re: How do you make these Damn plug wires

Just grease em up with the silicone stuff, then "twist" the boot on

Re: How do you make these Damn plug wires

Jim, You had the trick... I lubed up the very tip, pushed and twisted it right through the boot. You guys were also right about the crimping tool. I found a pliers type for crimping plug wires from NAPA. very simple to do. All 9 wires were done in 30 min, using everyone's advice. Thanks guys

Re: How do you make these Damn plug wires

I found dish soap works better than silicone grease and you only need a little water to clean up.
