Red face horn ground wiring

when I bought my 67, I was told the horn had a broken wire when I took a part my steering colum I found all the turn signal wires had butt connecters under the cam, and no horn ground wire, where and how does it get attached, I'm ordering a new turn signal kit and was wondering if the horn wire comes attached to anything , photos would greatly help me thanks

Your steering column wiring connects to the vehicle wiring harness by means of a half-moon shaped electrical connector. The last wire in the steering column connector is black. It should be the horn.

Disconnect the column connector from the body harness.

That black wire runs up into the steering column and is permanently connected to the underside of the turn signal switch. On the side of the turn signal switch pointing at the driver is a spring loaded contact. You should have continuity from the black wire in the half-moon column connector up to the contact.

The contact from the turn signal switch should rub against a brass ring on the underside of the turn signal cancelling cam. That cam should have a tower and a plunger acting as a contact. With the parts correctly assembled in the column, you should have electrical continuity from the plunger contact on the cancelling cam all the way back down to the black wire.

The tower and plunger contact should stick up through the steering wheel hub and press against the horn button contact. Pushing on the horn button should close the horn circuit so that there is continuity from the black wire all the way down to the end of the steering column shaft that sticks out into the engine compartment.

This paper was written for 1969 and later Chevelle horn trouble shooting, but all GM horn circuits operate the same. (This one has a key buzzer, I don't think a 1967 GM vehicle had a key buzzer, but again, that is just an added detail). Sometimes the relay or the wiring colors might be a little different depending on the vehicle and year.
