alarm problem

I bought a used car for my daughter (chevy of course) and it came with an after marker alarm. It goes off all the time and we only have one remote for it. Is there anyway we can turn this thing off? bought it off the lot and there is no directions. It has a little red light that flashes and a small toggle switch, but I don't know if that is part of the alarm system or not.

Re: alarm problem

It sounds like the shock sensor is too sensitive. Do you have any idea what kind of alarm it is? Take the remote with you and with your hand give the windshield a smack on the drivers side. If the alarm goes off easily then the sensor is too sensitive. It is usually located on the steering column. The toggle sw could be the override sw. Without knowing what alarm, it is hard to tell you how to disarm it completely. You should be able to see the module under the dash tucked away. Go on their website for instructions.
