right directional

I just finished re-wiring the entire car with factory fit harnesses. I also installed a new tach. Everything works perfect except for one thing: when i pull the headlamp switch the right directional stays lit. If I put the key in the ignition the blinker works fine. When I take out the key and move the turn signal the light goes out. However, with the key in, moving the turn signal causes the blinker to operate. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: right directional

Check the ground at the right side bulb sockets. Without a good ground the voltage passes through both filaments and back to the dash indicator.

You checked front and rear? How did you determine the grounds were good? Do you have a meter? Also try pulling the bulbs one at a time and see if one of them makes the dash light go out. Sometimes the filaments short to each other in the bulb (or that's the one with the bad ground).

I should clarify, this is the directional on the dash. The blinker light for the right blinker. I
