2 Condensers ???
I just checked into my coil and dist. to change the points out to the Pertronix and I found that the guy before me put an external condenser on the outside of the coil. He taped a condenser to the coil and has it attached to the positive side of the coil (same side as the resistor wire). I took the cap off of the dist and there is a condenser attached on the dist along with the points.
My question, why would someone do this?
Is there a way to check if the condenser in the dist is good and the one on the coil removed?
I took off the connection on the condenser on the coil and the car ran fine.
Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Anything! I am stumped on this one.
BTW, the car is a stock 302 - Z.
