Smile 69Z, repop or ACDelco tank sender?

I need to replace my sending unit whilst the tank is out....so the question is ....anybody have any luck with the generic units, or are the ACD/GM units the only way to go? The original I have runs at 110-115 ohms and causes the tank to read 1/4 more than full. A meter check out of the car confirms this reading, so I need to replace it. Ricks is $49, and the ACD is $139. Any experiences?

I've bought both and actually had good luck with the repro's. Purchased mine from Classic Ind. Use your original locking ring but new gasket. The locking ring that comes with the unit is crap.

Yeah the repro locking rings are crap..
I have a repro sender that wouldn't read quite full, so I had to file the "stop" to allow the float to go higher. Should read 90 Ohms full and 0-5 Ohms empty.
All other areas of the gauge were fine, including 1/2 actually read 1/2.


If I weren't modifying the pickup for a 1/2" line, I would have bought the Delco at twice the price. (At least the repro is stainless steel. Not sure what the Delco is.)

Nov 68 Van Nuys. 327 floor-shift-auto, Frost Green and not much else when new.
