Water Temp Guage not working?

Has anyone ever heard of a "Mechanical" temp guage to go bad? It was fine sunday then monday the temp never got over 160 then tuesday it never even moved off of 100*. I took out the brass sending piece that goes into the water jacket and used sand paper to clean it and I also flushed my radiator. Any suggestions?

Re: Water Temp Guage not working?

think it's gone bad, either internally or the capilary tube got kinked, either way you need a new one.

Re: Water Temp Guage not working?

Take it to a speedo/gauge repair shop, or back to the manufacturer maybe.
I had an Autometer mechanical temp gauge's capilary tube break and they repaired it quite easily. They even made it the correct length for my application, and I think I paid (AU)$75 maybe 6 years ago.
I thought it was junk when it broke, but it's still working accurately today.
