Pioneer Wiring harness question (From '68 Camaro)

All, I've got a pioneer KE-1033 cassette player in my 68 camaro and need some help with the decoding the colors on the pioneer wiring harness so that I can wire it in correctly to the 68 wiring harness.

Blue (No Idea)
Orange (Battery???)
Grey/Grey w red (Right Hand Speaker)
Green/Green w red (Left Hand Speaker)
Red/Black (Ignition/Ground)

You dont tell us what model the pioneer is. Ive used the Pioneer site alot, with the model number you get a page of info. and a PDF of the owners manual which should tell you what the wire codes are.

Pioneer info.

Re: Pioneer Wiring harness question (From '68 Camaro)

Thanks for the reference. I looked on the pioneer site but they don't have the KE-1033 model listed under "older" decks. I'll take it up to one of the local car stereo shops to get their advice.

The blue wire off the harness wasn't connected to anything but the orange wire is what has me puzzled. The orange wire has a grey junction type splice with the name "pioneer" on it. It doesn't open but I bet contains either a capacitor or a fuse splice. It probably hooks up to battery so that the clock/tuner presets are kept when the ignition is turrned off. This orange wire was spliced into one of the original brown wires near the emergency brake that then runs back to the rear body wiring. I'm guessing this wire doesn't belong there as its not in the console wiring diagram you gave me in a previous post (Re: 68 Camaro Wiring Questions).

Thanks

Re: Pioneer Wiring harness question (From '68 Camaro)

On all the Pioneer's I have seen, blue is the lead for power antenna (which explains why it wasn't used). Orange is the lead for memory, as you guessed. The "gray junction type splice" is probably a fusible link, made to burn through and break the connection in the event of an overload.

Thanks Eric. The cassette deck is now connected up to the new Pioneer in dash dual stereo speaker from Firewheel Classics and sounds great. I wish I had taken a picture of the trashed mono speaker I took out! It actually looked worse than it sounded!
