side post or top post

I'm replacing my battery and cables anyway in my 68 , but cant decide if I want a side post battery or a top post. The car is not an original restoration anyway so I could go either way.

Re: side post or top post

My battery has both. I use repro spring ring cables for the car, and side post cables for the stereo amps.

Re: side post or top post

Delco side post batteries are prone to leaking at the termials. The side post may look a little cleaner but as mentioned it is harder to get cables on them.
I would go with the top post.

Both.... Optima battery.

I didn't vote because there was not a both choice.

Same here. The battery is in the trunk and the side posts allow the cable to be hidden.

Re: side post or top post

I've always liked the side posts but after getting a good set of the spring load cables, I'm sold on them. Very easy to work with.

Re: side post or top post

original side post is the only option
non original side post
I have side post only and have no real issues getting a jump or with leaking. Plus my car and truck both use the same battery.

Re: side post or top post

Well I bought a top post battery today . That most of you are running a top post had a lot to do with it. I'm trying to use the retro look where ever I can so thanks for keeping me on track.
