wiper motor wiring

Can any one tell me what the wires are supposed to be for the wiper motor on a 69? I can't find a diagram that I can follow. I have either a short or a loose wire somewhere but I don't know what each wire should do.

Re: wiper motor wiring

there is a member here that has made some of the best wiring diagrams i have ever seen, better than most manufacturers make today
do a search for my user name and wiper motor or something like that

i know he sells them (really cheap) but cant remember his user name

oh and your lucky he only has them for 69's right now, but the wiper wiring is all the same so i got lucky...

Re: wiper motor wiring

Heres a couple of pics,
http://www.chevelles.com/forums/atta...achmentid=1266
http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/data/500/70wprmtr.jpg

Off Black wire is grounded.
Low Black and Lt blue wires are grounded.
Hi Lt blue wire is grounded.
Wash Dk blue wire is grounded.
Pushing the switch from off sets the switch to low speed and grounds the Dk blue wire.

2-Run solenoid. The Lt blue wire is grounded to lock out the park (mechanically prevents the wipers from being driven to the park position) and close the run/park switch.

3-Shunt winding. This winding is parallel to the armature winding.

4-Series winding. This winding is in series with the armature and shunt windings.

5-Run/Park switch. Closed when run solenoid is energized (Lt blue wire grounded). Also closed when run solenoid is de-energized and wipers not in park position.

6-Wash pump start coil. When the Dark Blue wire is grounded this coil latches the wash pump for one wash cycle.

7-Shunt winding resistor. The shunt winding grounds thru this resistor during high-speed operation and is bypassed (Black wire grounded) during low speed and park.

8-Wiper motor fuse (25 amp) in fuse block. Has +12 VDC when ignition switch is in run or accessory position.

Where do those other wires in the picture (yellow& white, and orange or red) with the open ended ("U" shaped) terminals go?

Re: wiper motor wiring

I have the wires connected as indicated & have power to lt blue, drk blue & yellow. Ground is hooked up but motor or pump will not run. I bypassed switch & still nothing. Is this a ground problem? Motor makes no noise & fuse is good.
Thanks anyone!

Re: wiper motor wiring

Wiper motor is hot feed at all times the key is on. The switch grounds various wires to get it to perform selected function. Undee72 Z has a list above.

Re: wiper motor wiring

If this grounding plate isn't installed on the back side of the wiper switch the wipers won't work. http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-h...late-1969.html

Re: wiper motor wiring

If I use a jumper wire from switch housing to a good ground, this should tell me if all is working and if so I should order grounding plate, Correct???

Re: wiper motor wiring

It will help narrow things down. Could still be a bad motor or a missing ground strap on the motor mounting rubber washer. http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-w...1967-1992.html
