How accurate are the 69 console gauges?

I'm looking to get a console and really like the stock look of the console gauges. How good are they?

they are not as accurate as autometer gages.

Dawg I don't know how you can say that... The factory are just not as detailed in what degree the temp is or pressure you are at. From the auto meter and factory I have in mine right now both temp and oil pressure are very consistant with each other.

I've been running both just to satisify myself that I can trust the factory and I do. My intent is to remove the auto meter from th ecar.

Re: How accurate are the 69 console gauges?

What company is the best to buy from? Are some better than the others? Do I need a harness or can I wire it like any other gauge? can I buy a 68 console and put the 69 gauges in it or should I buy the 69 console? Sorry for all the questions.

Also what do I need for the fuel gauge? At one point I will hook it up and put the tach in the dash.

Re: How accurate are the 69 console gauges?

First of all, all of the aftermarket console are the same. I just brought a complete 68 console off of ebay for 319.00 plus shipping ($20). The body of the 68 and 69 console and the way they mount are the same, the forward and shift trim plate are different. You will not need the forward trim plate with the gauges. What are you going to use for a shifter (factory or after market)? Now from looking at the wire you have listed it is for a console without gauges;
Big purple power for neutral switch
Big purple/white stripe starter side of neutral switch
Pink power for backup lights
samall green light side of backup lights
Gray console/dash lights
Orange console rear courtesy light power
Small white ground for rear courtesy light

None of these are for gauges. If you are going to convert to factory gauges, you will need along with the gauges, the factory console harness for factory gauges and a convertion harness for you main harness to make it a gauges type harness. You will need a new printed circuit for the rear of the dash pod and the tach. If you are going to do this PM me and I will put you in touch with the guy I got all my stuff from and it will save you a couple hundred dollars over what the guys at classic, rick, and NPD charges. Good luck Jerry

Big purple and Big purple /wht should be your neutral safety sw. Not sure about the others on a 68.
