HEI Install, dump my current Ignition Box?

Gents,

I am converting my 67 350 to HEI, but have a little spaghetti wiring left over from previous owner. I converted my old stock 69 with no problems, but this time is a little different.

Current setup uses Crane HI6 Fireball Ignition Box and PS91 External Coil.

So I assume dump the old Coil, but what about ignition box? I am a little confused as whether I should keep, dump or replace it. I can't find much info on the box, except for simple sales info.

Comments?

Re: HEI Install, dump my current Ignition Box?

That is a very good CDI box that you have. Why in the world would you want to swap over to an HEI??? Your Crane set up is a much better proposition-built in rev limiter, multiple spark, hotter ignition... Plus, the HEI has a larger cap and may, or may not, fit without indenting the firewall.... I am currently running an HEI distributor that has been gutted. I am only using the magnetic pick up to fire my Crane Hi-6 box. I am currently looking to dump my HEI and will as soon as I can find a suitable distributor that will signal my Crane box, and has a vacuum advance set up on it.
