fuse links

How do I check to see if a fuse link is bad? I tried the continuity, but that won't tell me if a wire is weak and it will show continuity even if one small wire is still conected in the wax coating and my OHM meter is not saying anything. Is there another way to see if it chaecks out good?

Re: fuse links

When i needed one years ago, they were not available. in my opinion, i would just replace it, spacially if it old. when it comes to the wire, i replaced that main one as well. hope this helps.

Re: fuse links

Are you saying your ohm meter is reading an open? A 1 onthe readout. Go to the lowest setting. Usually 200 and see what it reads. Move the wire around while reading and see if it changes. What makes you think the link is weak?

Re: fuse links

other than a visual and mechanical check, there is really no way to test them.

They can be replaced, madelectrical.com has them, but they don't look exactly like the originals.

I'd say if they get hot while loaded that might also be a sign of weakness
