Best place to buy a tach.

Since it's Christmas, and I'm the Santa around here, I'm thinking about buying a factory tach for my 67. What is the best place to buy it from? A quick look showed Rick's to have the cheapest price, but some of the other guys may have discounts that I'm not taking into consideration. So, who do you guys recomend, and why? Also, tell me what you think most people miss when they convert thier non-tach dashes. I would like to have as few surprises as possible. Thanks.

Re: Best place to buy a tach.

I'd be willing to bet they're most all the same. I got mine (OER brand) tach from Rick's and it works great.
Weren't any real hangups with the install. I have a MSD distrib and ignition so I built JimM's tach filter and it worked 4.0. Also, I used a q-tip and some brasso to clean the contact points on the flexible circuit card for the new gauge.

Ditto on the OER. Got one for the 69, works perfect with the Unilite no filter.

Might check with www.mattsclassicbowties.com since they are in the bay area and shipping might be less for you. Another option : www.gpsuperstore.com (a sponsor)
