More problems with console gauge set

I've started to assemble a second center console with the 4 gauge set forward of the shifter. I have a new console wiring harness and a sealed repo OER 4 gauge cluster assy. The AIM on page 415 (u17/a2) shows a wire with a connector on it coming out thru a hole in the mounting plate from the face side of the fuel gauge. This wire connects to a yelllow wire in the console harness. My gauge set does not have this wire at the gauge. What can I do? Is it maybe not needed with a repo gauge pack? The back of this fuel gauge does not look the same as the drawing in the AIM. But the 2 wire connector at the fuel gauge is there and matches with the harness.

Is there a wiring diagram for this optional gauge set? I have only been able to find the std dash (idiot) light diagram.

I need as clue.......

Hope this makes sense,

Dave

Re: More problems with console gauge set

That may be for the low fuel warning light. It would flash inside of your fuel gauge readout so you would notice the fuel level. My original cluster had it but I'm not exactly sure of the color of the wire.

Re: More problems with console gauge set

I just took a break and got some food. I started thinking the same thing. I don't think the extra wire is a big deal.

Thanks

Dave

Re: More problems with console gauge set

Fred, The yellow wire is for the low fuel module. There's a small can that mounts with the gauges, and a yellow light "somewhere" in the dash (I only know where on a 68.) Check your email for some christmas presents that will help.

Re: More problems with console gauge set

I see the OE setup has a lot more grd. wire connections. I may add a few just for safe keeping.

Thanks again Jim,

Dave

Re: More problems with console gauge set

here is my low fuel I taped to the inside of the guage cluster. Yellow wire feeds it.
