HEI to 1971 tach problem

I have a problem with a 1971 Z28 I just bought. The tach reads almost 100% high. I found on another website (electronics repair) that pre-1972 tach don't run correctly with HEIs. Does anyone know where the tach cluster can be modified?

I would appreciate any help.

No, but am pretty certain it would be the one plugged into the terminal labelled "tach" on the HEI.
