Another scam

I'm selling my Camaro on the classified here and recieved this email from larry garison [[email protected]]...

Here is thier response to me:

Hello bb, we have concluded, making the payment
Thanks for your email and update on the bottom price($20,000),it was
accepted by my clientand he has directed us to issue payment to you. I
would need your assurance that the property whose payment we would start
processing,is in a good condition as the only view our client had of the
vehicle was on the internet and this purchase is hinged on his personal
judgement of what the property's state and output would be like,in
comparison to models of its category. However,he made out a certified
cashiers check of($25,000) before he travelled for a conference, for a
previous vehicle and its shipment charges etc,but it wasunfortunately
sold. The amount on the check he deposited for the vehicle is bigger than
what should be paid to you now, so the check is now meant for the total
expenses which includes the purchase of your vehicle ,its pick up from its
present location and the shipping charges/other necessary shipping
arrangements. However he has instructed us to bikery on with this
transaction. So when payment gets to you, you're required to deduct the
cost of your vehicle ($20,000) and send the balance of($5,000) to my client
shipping agent to enable him offsett shipping charges/arrangements. Once
the transaction is concluded, My client shipping agent will be coming for
the pick up of the vehicle from its present location, on an access to a
prepaid shipper for shipment, and also conclude other necessary shipping
arrangements. So you dont have to bother yourself about the pick up and
shipping rrangements, while title papers and other necessary documets will
be sent by you via fedex courier . Please Confirm this and provide (1)
NAME (2) CONTACT ADDRESS AND CONTACT PHONE NUMBER(s) for check payment to
be delivered to you via regular mail immediately , please remove the add
of the vehicle from the internet to avoid complications from other buyers

Re: Another scam

Ahhh....the old "deposit this check and send back the difference " scam. That one is very popular. A lot of Nigerian scammers use that one.

Someone's gonna send you a $25,000 check(which would be forged & not worth anything) via the regular mail through the Post Office.

Re: Another scam

People amaze me. Does look like a scam to me. Play with his head ....why cant you accept his offer, tell him to send the check, deposit the check and "if it clears" your good. Money is in the bank right? Take the 25k first and then tell him to pick it up and send him his 5k. I bet it wont clear! My guess is they hope you take the deal and ship the vehicle before it clears??? Plus 5K.

Re: Another scam

That is a good one. Do like Dan said and tease him, as if you are going to fall for the deal. Tell him the price of the vehicle went up because you now have multiple buyers.

Re: Another scam

That is too funny - I think "bikery" refers to the early 80's Huffy he's riding at the moment.

I wonder if they are smart enough to read the forums... I'm curous to see if the site admin can find anything with the email address "[email protected]" I attached.

I found it funny how he (assuming a male here) addressed me initially. Here it is:

"am interested in your vehicle advertise on
https://www.camaros.net/classifieds/s...t=27806&cat=42
please get back to me with your last asking price
and the present photo"

Obviously "Engrish" is not thier first language..... <grin>

Yeah that be a good one, that 25k check will now just barely pay for the car

be careful. even a good cashiers check from outside the us could take up to 30 days to clear..

better yet, too bad you couldnt get him to come to your house where you could shoot him in the *** and send him back to wherever it is he comes from

Re: Another scam

just like L7869 said a good fake check takes about 2-4 weeks to come back too you. my friend got screwed that way.a guy is trying to scam me now on my daughters car now. what i did was told him send me check. a bank check drawn on a local bank for me to take and cash it. im not putting it in my bank. he bugged me for a week for me to take his check and just deposit it in my own bank. usually fake people misspell words and use 2 first names as a e mail addy. and my courier i am away from your area will pick it up. if you where spending 20,000 i would be there to inspect car before giving anybody that kind of money.
