Question SuperModerator ?????

I've noticed on Team Chevelle that there is at least 1 SuperModerator.
Is that basically an Admin ????? Just curious as I've never seen that title here.

Re: SuperModerator ?????

The software allows a few different levels of Moderator, basically we are given permissions to edit and delete in one or more forums. We can also ban users.

Administrator is the top level, they get access to all sorts of stuff that I know nothing about, since I ain't one.

The s/w also allows various things to be labelled. In fact, the "moderator" under my name is just a label. An Admin can change it to anything he wants.

I've seen site's where some mods are labelled "guru"!

We only have "admin" (Al, Dennis, and Don) and "moderator" (Click, Dan, Jody, David, Joe, Bill, Jeff, and I)

Thanks for the "techsplanation" Jim . I guess those G body guys over there at TC are just a little different than us F body guys.(If my G body comment starts a controversey.....please edit it from my post... I don't want to be on the "Banned" wagon........

Call me chopped beef

Actually, there are a couple Mods on TC that are "SuperModerators". They were upgraded because they asked for more permissions to help clean up the high level of spam we were receiving at one time. But as Jim stated, what's under our names is just a label, and even the SuperModerators, just say Moderator under their name.

A "Moderator" is just a security group name. Just like a regular user and an administrator is. You assign members to a group, then you give that group, whichever one it is, certain permissions. For example, "Regular Users" have permission to post and edit their own posts, where as a "Moderators" can post and edit anyone's posts. You can name these groups anything you want like Jim said, we could call them "Gurus" or "Idiots" or whatever instead of "Moderators"

Generally, sites assign the Moderator groups, certain permissions to certain areas of the site. On TC, each of us is in charge of certain sections. Like I'm in charge of Wheels and Tires, Bug Hunt, and Tools and Shops. So normally, I'd only have permissions to modify threads in those sections. The SuperModerator groups, if I was assigned to that group
could give me more permissions, like the ability to modify threads/posts in other sections too, if the group was given permission to do so.

Point is, "Moderator", "User", "Guru", "Idiot", "SuperModerator", "Administrator", "Lifetime Member", etc, is just a name of a security group that is assigned certain permissions. Call them whatever you want, it's all about what they've been granted the rights to do by THE Administrator of the site.

Was that too much info?

I tried, guess I don't have permissions to do so I found where to do it, and could actually change the title. There was just no "save" button to save the change.

Re: SuperModerator ?????

I thought I'd make myself a Guru instead of plain old mod for a change.

Bummer..... it gets rid of the flag though.

Re: SuperModerator ?????

Joe, here is the original text:
<b>Moderator</b> <img src=https://camaros.net/forums/tm.gif>

The entire thing is wrapped in [.B]....[./B] (remove the dots inside the brackets)
You can add the second part back to have the flag.
