Threads That Are Moved

When a thread is moved sometimes I have trouble finding it. Would it be too much trouble for the mods to post where it was moved to?

Thanks for any help,

Regards,

Daniel

Re: Threads That Are Moved

When a thread is moved it is still present in its orig place for several days as a link to where it is moved to. Once the redirect expires it is still there there as a deleated thread and if you go to your profile you can find it in your recent posts or by searching all your posts.

Re: Threads That Are Moved

We can set how long the redirected thread stays in it's original place. It's a judgement call on our part how long that is. I tend to set the length of time the original post is a clickable link to the new location very short... like a day or a week.

Some people post a new thread for whatever reason and don't get back to it for a month. If it's been moved they probably won't find it and the time period for the redirect has expired.
Maybe I'll make it longer from now on.

Re: Threads That Are Moved

I use to set short redirects on busy forums like bench and longer ones on slower forums because I figured once the the thread falls off the 1st page the redirect is useless. I also figured an active thread would show up on a "todays posts" or "new posts" search and it would still be the same topic so it would still be found.

I can do longer redirects, thats not a problem.
