'work safe' pics

Is there some sort of guideline for what is considered 'work safe'? I didn't mean to offend anyone. The picture I posted was taken directly off of Yahoo's front page, and the whole thing was broadcast on network TV. There are magazine covers in most office waiting rooms that are more revealing. I also remember seeing women in bathing suits posted in theads on this site other than the OT section. The boat thread for example. Just wondered why the picture in question is being talked about like it was porn or something. It was just a pretty girl in a bathing suit.

Re: 'work safe' pics

Mark - first keep in mind there is no way the moderators can keep up with every thread or post. That said sometimes things get by that maybe should be moderated.

It's gotten really out of balance in most large companys, "work safe" is also a bit subjective but basically in todays workplace it's anything the person in the next cubicle might find offensive. The problem isn't the content as much as it is the system. Employers don't want to get sued so they use diversity and the eeoc and create what they feel is a safe environment for all employees. That means the timid gal that faints when someone tells an off color joke becomes empowered and if she looks over your sholder and sees something she finds offensive on your monitor she can go to management and file an eeoc complaint against you and if the company doesn't take action it becomes the target for allowing a hostel work environment.

At home you control your environment and even though the media pushes every envelope you can shut it out. In public it's another story, kind of every person for themself but you still have the freedom to avoid most things you find distastful. At work you are captive to the environment around you and just can't avoid what you find offensive.

Diversity has a big part in this too. People (employees) cannot be stripped of their ethnic and religious backrounds and beliefs in the workplace so in order to facilitate a diverse work place it becomes a rather steril environment.

Not all employees follow and buy into this but they do so on their own terms as well not every office has employees that take advantage of diversity and eeoc policies but they are in place and people have lost jobs over what was viewed on their monitor and for having a potty mouth and even just looking at someone else in an intimidating way.

Someone at work may choose to visit this site because car pictures are typically work safe and it is unfair to them to click on a link about cars or even the superbowl and see bikini clad girls on the page.

I hope that makes sense.

...Dennis

Thanks for the response Dennis. 'Sterile' it will be then.

Guess that means posting Alex Morgan, the female soccer player, in body paint is out of the question?

I posted a pic of Maria Menounos in a NY Giants bikini. She lost a bet and had to go on the air like that. Pretty nice pic. Do a search.

Oh, OK. That was on Extra and so I would have thought that was safe.

What I was thinking was the Kylie Bisutti story that was posted on Yahoo. That was on GMA.

I'm guessing you could see the goose bumps on her arms then? I thought those big fuzzy boots were to keep her warm.
